At OMPRN, we strive to empower patients and their families by providing educational resources on cancer molecular pathology topics. One of our most meaningful activities this year has been the continued development of patient-oriented microlessons. We believe that this learner-centric, enjoyable and accessible online format can help to change the way patients learn about molecular pathology and its role in cancer diagnosis and care.
Microlearning is an educational approach that delivers content in bite-sized pieces, typically in the form of short videos, infographics, interviews or interactive modules. It focuses on delivering information in a concise and engaging manner, making it easier for the audience to absorb and retain knowledge.
This year, we launched a range of microlessons on our website. These lessons cover various cancer-related topics and include a storybook that explains the value of biomarkers in cancer testing as well as a whiteboard animation video on the basics of clinical trials. As mentioned earlier in the newsletter, you can explore these lessons by visiting the Patient Resources page on the OMPRN website. We encourage you to share these resources with others who may benefit from this unique learning experience. We are committed to expanding our microlearning library in the coming year, with plans to widen our scope, so please stay tuned!
As we look ahead to the new year, OMPRN is seeking to further enhance our patient education initiatives and increase our reach. One of the upcoming initiatives involves the launch of a social media campaign to engage patients and other members of the lay public across Canada.
