Dr. Mark Crowther

Biography
Dr. Crowther holds a Career Investigator Award from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. His current research interests include exploring ways of improving the way that we use our current anticoagulant drugs; foci include exploring the use of vitamin K to treat warfarin-associated coagulopathy, the use of low molecular weight heparin in patients with renal failure, and studies and systematic reviews of various interventions and observations in Hematology and Thromboembolism.
These efforts are funded by Pharmaceutical partners and Peer-review funding agencies and are carried out in collaboration with International, National and Local partners including Dr. Walter Ageno (Varese, Italy), Dr. David Garcia (University of New Mexico) and McMaster Collaborators including Dr. Deborah Cook (Critical Care), Dr. James Douketis (Division of Internal Medicine) and Dr. Wendy Lim (Hematology and Thromboembolism). The St. Joseph’s Thromboembolism Research Centre is located on the second floor of 39 Charlton Avenue, across from the main hospital campus.
Dr. Crowther’s clinical interests include general, benign, hematology with a special interest in the prevention and treatment of blood clotting complications. The clinical service at St Joseph’s Hospital is covered by Dr. Peter Powers (Hematology and Thromboembolism), Dr. Mark Crowther (Hematology and Thromboembolism), Dr. James Douketis (Thromboembolism), Dr. Howard Chan (Hematology and Thromboembolism) and Dr. Madeleine Verhovsek (Hematology and Thromboembolism).
