Julian Little, PhD holds a Canada Research Chair in Human Genome Epidemiology, and is a Professor in the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa, of which he was Chair/Director 2006-2016. His PhD, from Aberdeen University, was on problems of ascertainment of congenital anomalies. Subsequently, he worked for the EUROCAT Central Registry in Brussels (Belgium), as a lecturer in epidemiology in Nottingham University, as an epidemiologist in the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, and as Professor of Epidemiology at Aberdeen University, during which he spent a sabbatical year at the Office of Genomics and Disease Prevention, CDC, Atlanta. He was on academic leave in the Clinical Research Unit, Xinhua Hospital, Shanghai, from September – December 2016, and in the University of Ferrara from January-December 2017. His research interests lie in the application of epidemiological and research synthesis methods to cancer etiology and prevention; population-based screening; nutrition; public health genetics and genomics; etiology and control of congenital anomalies; and mental health
