Background

In line with the OMPRN’s mission to enhance molecular pathology research in Ontario, including through enhanced training activities, OMPRN is pleased to announce the return of the Applied Molecular Pathology Course, developed in collaboration with the Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP) and the Anatomical Pathology Specialty Committee (APC) of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).


Course Information

The Applied Molecular Pathology Course will take place on January 21-22, 2020 immediately prior to the 10th Annual CAP-ACP Resident Review Course. It will address the application of molecular concepts and techniques in the practice of contemporary diagnostic cancer pathology, using hereditary colon cancer, lung cancer and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma as exemplars. The course will be delivered through three half-day sessions led by a pathology subspecialist and a molecular diagnostics clinical scientist.


Target Audience

The intended target audience includes pathology residents and Canadian College of Medical Genetics trainees, as well as practicing pathologists, laboratory geneticists, pathologists’ assistants and others.

Accreditation

The course is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of RCPSC and approved by CAP-ACP.

Registration

OMPRN will cover registration fees for attendees from Ontario

Please visit the event website and follow the instructions for Ontario Attendees. Eligible attendees will later be provided with travel and accommodation reimbursement instructions.

Accomodations and Travel

A room block is available for attendees at the Hilton Garden Inn in Mississauga, Ontario. OMPRN will only cover the room rate (tax included) for attendees from Ontario who are traveling from outside of the Greater Toronto Area.

Travel expenses (air, train, mileage, and parking) will be reimbursed for all Ontario attendees as per OICR's Travel Policy. Further details regarding reimbursement will be provided to eligible registered attendees.
